Background: Stunting is a condition where toddlers have a length or height that is
less than their age. This condition is measured by a length or height that is more
than minus two standard deviations of the WHO child growth standard median. In
2020, the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is estimated to decrease to 26.92%.
The decline in the stunting rate is predicted to be 0.75% compared to 2019
(27.67%). Data on the prevalence of stunting toddlers collected by the World
Health Organization (WHO), Indonesia is included in the third country with the
highest prevalence in the Asian Region with the average prevalence of stunting
under five in Indonesia in 2005 - 2017 is 36.4% (Kemenkes RI, 2018).
The purpose of the study: This study aims to determine the relationship between
knowledge and access to clean water with the incidence of stunting in children
under five in Indonesia.
Research method: This study uses a literature review method on several articles
that meet the inclusion criteria that have been set. Articles that meet the
requirements of 8 articles are then read, summarized and analyzed and given the
views of the researcher.
The results of the study: stated that the mother's knowledge and access to clean
water were related to the incidence of stunting in children under five in Indonesia.
The conclusion of the study: Mothers can improve stunting prevention through
seeking information such as attending counseling, and increasing access to clean
water to avoid the risk of stunting.
Keywords: Stunting, knowledge, access to clean water
